Box wins Innovation in Fleet Technology 2008 - May 2008
Given the complexity of the Fleet Industry today with increasing time and scheduling limitations, vehicle tracking and scheduling is critical in successful logistics execution. The emergence of technologies and information systems allowing for seamless mobile connectivity between fleets and end destinations is paving the way for innovative approaches to real-time Vehicle tracking and fleet management. Fleet managers have discovered how essential it is, in effective fleet management, to have a system which provides real time control and scheduling systems that determine the vehicle routing plan based on the current status of the system. As a result of the in-depth research conducted in this area, the Institute has found that fleetBOX, the flagship product of Box Telematics, is a most innovative piece of technology, and one from which the industry can only benefit.
It is product innovation and market responsiveness like this that makes it hardly surprising that Box Telematics are the market-leaders in providing solutions for both inbound and outbound fleet management. It is this innovation that has led the Institutes executive committee to select fleetBOX for the "Innovation in Fleet Technology" award for 2008.
BOX Telematics is a relatively young company, emerging only in 2000 from the privately-owned Mobilefone Group which specialises in the provision of mobile phone, paging and private mobile radio systems. However, the expertise of the company in area of innovative wire-free telemetry dates back to the 1990s, when key personnel began designing, refining, and delivering this technology. BOX stole a march on its competitors in the communications industry by realising early on how crucial wire-free applications would become to businesses and private individuals the world over, allowing as it does the intelligent sending and receipt of data, reciprocal instruction to people and equipment, and alarms. BOX now leads the way in the machine-to-machine or " m2m " sector, having developed a range of sophisticated wire-free devices and services.
BOX produces its state-of-the-art technology in-house through its experienced research and development team, which has devised an impressive collection of quality hardware, firmware, and management products as well as managed services which rely on server-based software and the internet BOXportal facility. In the arena of fleet management, the company offers fleetBOX, a comprehensive fleet monitoring package designed to maximise efficiency and productivity. FleetBOX works by utilising satellite GPS technology and GPRS networks in order to provide an easy-to-use, 24-hour tool for vehicle tracking, security and asset management.
Commenting on the Research Report and Box Telematics’ success in this award category, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director for the Institute said: "Box Telematics provides an invaluable service to clients who want to overcome traditional fleet management obstacles and fully maximize all the information available on their travel routes in order to make the best decisions for themselves and/or their business and improve fluency. The proven trustworthiness of the company coupled with the innovative approach to launching products such as fleetBOX in response to growing market needs makes them the ideal candidate for this award. "
Mr. Sheedy concluded by saying: “Box Telematics great experience as a solution provider has stood up to scrutiny and in our opinion, has out performed its rivals in every criterion examined. For my part I would like to congratulate all at the company on their success and wish them continued success in the future.
